An acoustic report focusing on entertainment noise assessment from a Barn conversion, outdoor ceremony, Marquee and associated entertainment noise

HA Acoustics were engaged at the early design stage, to quantify and evaluate the typical impact of noise that would be generated from use of the site as a wedding venue and to make recommendations in the control of amplified music for events/functions held within a Barn and a Marquee.

A suitable noise criteria and noise monitoring methodology was agreed with the local authority. Then two 24-hour background noise assessments were undertaken at the site and at nearby residential dwellings in order to determine the local noise climate, followed by an entertainment noise impact assessment. Originally suffering local opposition our thorough and detailed report reassured local residents that the venue would not cause a significant loss of amenity. We worked with the clients architect and liaised on behalf of the client with the Local Authority Planning and Environmental Health Officers.

HA Acoustics provided details of physical sound amelioration measures and noise management controls, so as to ensure that local residents did not suffer loss of amenity. We provided contacts for suppliers products and made recommendations for the wedding venues compliance monitoring and event management controls.
