ENVIRONMENTAL NOISE IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF PROPOSED AIR CONDITIONING PLANT
BARNET, LONDON
HA Acoustics were engaged following installation, though not commissioning of three air conditioning units at the residential address.
The client was advised by the local Planning authority, London Borough of Barnet, the necessity of obtaining planning consent and the need for an acoustic report to supplement the application.
Therefore, HA Acoustics identified a suitable noise criteria and methodology, agreed in advance and based around the principles of BS 4142. Noise monitoring occurred over a 24-hour period, to capture typical daytime sound levels, for when the equipment might be in operation. Following this a report was produced, detailing sound levels, manufacturer’s specifications, max sound levels and calculations made to the nearest dwelling’s habitable window.
Our acoustic report demonstrated that the neighbouring property would not suffer a loss of amenity due to the air conditioning units being in operation.
Following submission of our report, retrospective planning consent was achieved.
